braggin on my boy..

Today has been a BIG day for my sweet Nathan. After I had already got him dressed this morning I came back in his room to find his diaper on the floor and He was standing there proudly with "big boy" underwear on. He said, "I wear these today, I want to be like Barrett" (his cousin). At first I said no, thinking I don't really want to deal with this today. We have tried wearing big boy underwear and pull ups in the last month or so and it didn't work out that consistently. Then I thought well, maybe today is the day.. and since he wanted to do it, I figured I'd let him try. I won't bore you with all the details but in short.. Nathan wore big boy underwear all day (minus nap time, he wore a pull-up). He did awesome! We even went to the gym. I packed extra clothes incase of an accident but there were none! I made a chart and put it on the fridge to keep track of his accomplishment. At the top it says.. "Nathan wants a BIG BOY BIKE!" I told him once he goes three days without any accidents he will get a new bike. His little hand-me-down tricycle of Kaitlyn's just isn't cutting it. He has already tried our neighbor's bike and does great on it. He has even gone to their garage to borrow it at time or two. I hope his new found excitement for the potty will stick so I can say so long to buying size 7 diapers! We'll see what day 2 holds tomorrow. Today we made at least 14 marks on his chart.. quite impressive for a two and a half year old I must say. I probably asked him about 500 times if he had to go potty, but by the afternoon he caught on. We were coloring at the table and he got up and started running away, I said where you going Nathan? He said "I be right back, I gotta potty" Then during dinner he said "Oh! I not want to accident" and started heading for the bathroom. Seriously, he is the cutest. My camera battery is dead so I don't have a picture of him today, but I will hopefully be making a post in the next week of him and his new bike!
